Our Mission
Our journalism seeks to answer a key question: what motivates (or inhibits) talented and visionary people to engage in public service?
We focus on the structural issues that currently hinder the creation of effective public institutions, the ability to attract and retain the best people, and the development of a culture of innovation in the public sector. We do this through inspiring stories, telling the stories of those who are already making a difference, what motivates them, and what lessons they have learned about how to make a difference.
Our Library
We will build a Library – a collection of case studies and best practices – that will serve as a resource center for those working with and for public policy.
Our Vision
Our vision at Driving Change is to inspire the recommitment to public service that the world needs now, especially from the most talented among us. We do this by making the case for public service, by reporting compelling stories about people engaging effectively in public service, and by identifying and campaigning for the changes needed in how public service is done to make it attractive to people who are currently disengaged from it. We understand that public service in the 21st Century is not just the preserve of government – though that is important, and needs to be reformed to attract more of the right sort of people – but also through the non-profit sector, civil society, philanthropies and even for-profit businesses. Figuring out how to get these different entities to partner together effectively to benefit society is a key part of our vision.
Our Reporting
Our reporting is focused on the key issues determining whether or not people with something to offer engage in public service. We focus on the structural issues that currently get in the way of people doing public service creating effective institutions, attracting and retaining the best talent and making public service more innovative. By telling the inspirational stories of people already engaged in effective public service, and emphasizing what drives them and the lessons they have learnt about how to get things done we hope to motivate talented individuals to join our cause.
Our Library will house case studies of best practices and act as a resource center for policy practitioners.
Through our Awards program, we will recognize and celebrate the people driving change around the world.
Our Awards
Through our Awards Program, we will celebrate those who are truly changing the world, recognizing the value of people who with vision, courage and concreteness lead change. We are here to tell these stories, inspire vocations, and give voice to those who believe that serving the common good is the greatest form of leadership.
