Taming The Violence Virus. Q&A: Gary Slutkin

This year has highlighted important similarities between how a virus spreads within a community and the spread of violence, says Gary Slutkin, a former World Health Organization physician and Founder and CEO of Cure Violence, a leading non-governmental organization. In both cases, he argues that deploying proven techniques to deliver behavioural change, rather than viewing the problem through a moralistic lens, is the best way for policymakers to bring things under control. Driving Change began by asking him how his thinking is evolving at a time when the Covid-19 pandemic is coinciding with a rise in violence in many places.
